Dash announces the release of it's ddxSuite v5. The ddxSuite delivers automated delivery of your business documents by fax, email and laser forms, as well as robust document management capabilities. Major enhancements include:

• Support for multiple fax destinations for a single document (broadcast)*
• PDF Support expanded: internal PDF Viewer option and/or Acrobat v7 support
• ddxPort: infrastructure added to simplify integration with new documents, from almost any source, without modification. (See article below)
• Fax, Print and email AutoCAD Drawings (DWG)
• Copy key information from Document Viewer to Publisher - drag and drop, or right-click and copy
• Updated look and feel for Document Viewer and Publisher
• Document Viewer and Publisher settings can now be controlled at the desktop-shortcut level for individualized profiles and views.

ddxPort - expanding horizons

Have you ever wanted to harness the power of ddx to archive and automatically deliver documents, reports or forms from another application or Windows programs? Dash's ddxPort technology makes this simple: Just click print.

v5 of the ddxSuite lays the foundation with ddxPort technology - built in to the existing ddxSuite products. It's long term goal is to make integration with almost any structured document extremely simple - without modification to the program that's generating the document. This dramatically opens up the possible uses for ddx.

Ultimately, you will be able to create a library of document "maps" that drive the process. A map identifies a type of document and tells ddx where to locate the information it needs to automatically archive, fax, email or print - regardless of what program produced the document. ddxPort is smart enough to retrieve any information it needs about a single document from the document itself, or look it up in almost any external database.

The end result is that you'll be able to "integrate" ddx with just about any other software - without changing that software. Create a map for the document type once. From then on, simply print to the special Dash ddxPrinter and ddx handles everything automatically.

Much of the infrastructure for ddxPort is already in released Dash products. We plan on continuing to enhance and expand this capability in future releases. For the moment, ddxPort is released for use with Microsoft SQL Server databases only. But that will expand over time to encompass additional sources - additional databases, as well as handling documents without the need for database connectivity by getting the information it needs directly from the document itself (Handy for MS Word, Excel, Reports, etc).
